There are lots of reasons to have your own website. Think of how much easier it would be to keep family members up to date with pictures, earn a little extra money selling grandma's home cooking recipes or write down your memoirs for future generations. There are a myriad of reason why average every day people would like to have their own website. If all you have ever done online is answer emails, and surf over to the coupon clippers forum, then the thought of your own website might be intimidating.
Getting online doesn't have to be intimidating though. You can set yourself up online with a smart looking website in just a few minutes to a few hours. The best of it is, you can do it yourself or get a little bit of help to get it started. Once your site is set up, if it is done properly, you will be able to add to it on your own, and it will be just as easy as sending an email.
The easiest way for anyone to get on the internet is to start a "Blog". Blog is short for "Weblog" and is basically any site that has information that is updated for by the owner. I think the idea started out as kind of an online diary, but since the very earliest beginnings, people have used blogs for saying whatever they wanted to say.
Some people use a blog to keep family updated on things like growing children. Some people write their thoughts down every day, kind of like a journal. Some people log their daily fitness progress, or write articles that others might like to read. LOTS of people make money from their blogs by selling things, or collecting advertisers who pay to post their ad on your site.
If you are TOTALLY new to the internet and want a free way to start a website blog, you can go to WordPress.com or Blogger.com set up an account, and start writing. It's ALMOST as easy as that.
I recommend you spend a few dollars though, and get your own Domain name. A Domain Name is the name of your website. Like www.ShelleyPenney.com Go to Bluehost and purchase the name you want for $10 a year. Then you can get a "place" for your new website to live, called "hosting". I love Bluehost for hosting because you can have unlimited websites on the same account for only $6.95 a month. That means that once you get your website up and going, you can get your spouse, your kids, and maybe even your CAT
online ALL on the same account for no extra cost.
Once you have your account set up with Bluehost you can easily install a blog… it's all automated with them so it's just a matter of clicking a few links and you're good to go.
If this is all too much for you to think about, but you still want to have your own website, I can help. Click or look above and click the link for Website Development Services. For a very low price, I can get you online today.
