Diabeties does run in my family and pretty strongly. My Grandma has it and I have an Uncle that has had some pretty severe problems because of it.
Now here is what has been happening to me:
For the past couple of days I feel like I have to eat right on schedule (before 9, again before 2:30, before 6 and then a small snack at 9 again) or else I feel kind of sick and light headed and soon after get a bad headache. As soon has I eat something it goes away. I've never had that problem before and it really had never mattered before when I ate. Now, I've always considered myself a pretty healthy eater. Not too much sugar and fat, and at least close to enough veggies. I'm not overweight at all, but like I said it does run in my family. I haven't had to urinate a lot (I heard that could be a sign of diabetes) but then again I try to drink plenty of water during the day anyway.

9 Secrets to Stop Mindless Eating

Seventy percent of people's weight gain occurs between leaving work or school and the next morning. Here are nine secrets to take control of this dangerous part of our day and lose weight.

Chaotic, uncontrolled, and often unplanned eating occurs during the late afternoon and evening for many individuals struggling to lose weight. The structure of the day, whether at work or at school with a planned breakfast, lunch and a snack gives way to chaos starting at four or five in the afternoon. Whether it's on the way home from work, when picking up children in car pool lanes or taking them to after school activities this is a dangerous, vulnerable time for many.

It's common for people to eat foods that they never had dreamed they would be eating at the start of the day.

Whether caused by hunger, anxiety, hypoglycemia, or boredom, the whole day's attempt at weight loss can be ruined by the few hours of grazing and mindless eating between 4 PM and bedtime. (Hypoglycemia -low blood sugar- occurrs late in the afternoon and some degree may be normal, but skipping lunch, too small a lunch or the wrong lunch (lunch full of rapidly digested carbs) makes the situation worse.

Women making dinner will often eat as they cook, pick up their children's food or even eat the leftovers on the plate as they clean up after dinner. Men come home hungry and grab the first thing they see in the refrigerator.

Once dinner is over, homework is done and the children are put to sleep eating can even become more out of control. Almost all of this eating is out of habit, boredom, stress, depression or anxiety. Rarely is really due to hunger. Eating for these reasons may produce some temporary pleasure and calmness, but since the signal to eat was not hunger in the first place, often the feelings and the need for even more eating returns. People who eat too early and go to bed too late make this problem even worse for themselves. It leaves a lot of time to make some mindless mistakes. For other individuals it's about spousal "approval." When one spouse falls asleep before the other that leaves time to find the hidden cookies, cake or chips– after all no one is looking..

What can be done to get some control of the 4 PM to bedtime overeating?

The solution is about putting some structure into the eating during this period, just like you might have during the day:

Clean up the house. There can be no large bags of snacks or artons of ice cream because they lack easy portion control. Late in the evening there is little control and many people will eat whatever is there.

Limit the alcohol and carbs at dinner which makes control harder

Have a snack at 4-5 PM on the way home, this controls both hunger and hypoglycemia

Don't eat while you're cooking or cleaning up

Don't eat other people's food

Eating too early-going to sleep too late. Make sure you are not eating too early or going to bed too late. Since it does not matter what time you have dinner, push the dinner meal a little later. For example, if you are eating at 6 PM and going to bed at 11:30 that leaves a long time for mistakes. Have a snack at 4-5 PM and eat dinner at 7 or 7:30 and then plan to go to sleep at 10:30. This reduces the time for mistakes from five hours to three hours.

Have you experienced any of the following scenarios?

You have been on the phone with a very interested prospect sharing an overview of your products and compensation plan. The prospect is not ready to commit to signing up. You thank them for the opportunity and ask when it would best to follow-up. What could you do at this point to keep them interested in your business?

There is a member of your organization who just achieved a new management level. You want to congratulate them on the accomplishment. What can you do to show them they are really appreciated?

You attend a local networking event and you have returned to your home office with a pocketful of business cards. You ask yourself how can I follow-up with them and make a lasting impression? You want your name and company to be remembered. You don’t want your business card thrown in a drawer with several hundred other business cards or placed in a huge rolodex. How can you make your business card stand out from the rest.?

There is a proven marketing method that will help in all the above scenarios. This marketing method is the utilization of personalized greeting cards.

There has been a lot of research done by the greeting card industry (ie. Greeting Card Association (GCA)) on how greeting cards affect the recipient more facts can be found here http://www.greetingcard.org.

Some of those facts are: Nine out of 10 Americans say they look forward to receiving personal letters and greeting cards because cards allow them to keep in touch with friends and family and make them feel they are important to someone else.

A greeting card in the mailbox not only brightens our day, but can instantly connect us emotionally to friends and family. That special bright-colored or hand-written envelope stands out among our piles of bills and magazines and serves as a reminder that someone has taken the time from their day to reach out to us and show us they care. Whether because of an annual holiday or an unexpected gesture, greeting cards keep people connected, benefiting both the sender and receiver.

Greeting cards are not only for personal use and the above facts can also be applied to business scenarios with the same proven results.

Some more interesting business related facts:

79% of all leads generated at a trade show aren’t followed up.

Only 3% of our mail is personal…how do you feel when you walk out to the mail box and see a personal card addressed to you? Your clients/prospects are no different.

Average company loses 50% of its customers every 5 years…Cost of replacing them can be 6-7 times more expensive.

5% increase in customer loyalty will yield 20%-80% to our bottom line profit…Much wiser to spend money on customer retention than acquisition.

There are a number of reasons to seek out natural therapies when diagnosed with cancer. Let’s explore some of those reasons together.

Choosing a natural supplement can be difficult. The internet has so much information and misinformation, and you are asked to wade through all of it and choose something that might help. Beware of miracle cures. There are definitely supplements and other natural therapies to help you conquer cancer, but you also need to balance reality with cost and put on your thinking cap and apply a little critical thinking to you.

There are a number of reasons to seek out natural therapies when diagnosed with cancer. Let’s explore some of those reasons together.

Ease the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation- Nausea, vomiting, extreme fatigue, weight loss, anemia and infection are some of the reasons that people look for natural therapies to conquer cancer. These side effects often feel worse than the cancer itself. People will often look for cancer fighting strategies that they can use together with their chemotherapy in order to not only kill cancer cells, but to diminish the horrible side effects of the conventional treatment.

Chemotherapy or Radiation is undesirable- There are many reasons why chemotherapy or radiation treatments may be undesirable to someone suffering with a diagnosis of cancer. The reasons are too numerous to list, but should be discussed with a medical professional. If chemotherapy or radiation is undesirable or has been ruled out in your case, then you may very well be looking for natural cancer fighting strategies.

You want to do everything possible- some people intend to follow their doctor’s advice AND add natural therapies to their treatment as well. This is often a viable option. Just be sure that the natural therapies you

White, green, oolong, black, puerh and matcha … the language of tea is foreign to North Americans, however more than ever people in the west are embracing the little green leaf from Asia. Oh sure, tea has been an adored beverage here for centuries, but I've ventured way beyond the teabag and have found it's a path of no return.

You would almost have to be living in a box not to have heard the nutritional buzz around tea. The benefits are myriad, if not completely understood. Tea has been shown to reduce and most certainly prevent many (if not all) kinds of cancers. Tea has a number of compounds that seem to be responsible for this including polyphenols, catechins, antioxidants, minerals vitamins and pigments. Tea also has been purported to burn fat more efficiently, reduce cholesterol levels, and improve the HDL/LDL ratio, reduce appetite and cravings, boost immune system, clear "brain fog", reduce inflammation, settle heartburn and aid with digestion.

It's difficult to argue against adding a few cups of tea to your daily regimen from a purely health perspective, but far beyond the clinical benefits of tea, I've found a joy in the preparing, the aroma, and even the rich history of the humble tea leaf.

Did you know that there are over 10,000 different types of tea? I am ONLY talking about true tea, the leaves of which hail from the camellia sinensis bush, indigenous to many parts of Asia. If you've found you "don't like tea" you just haven't tried hard enough.

I implore you to throw away the lowly gauze tea bag and experience the intriguing world of loose tea leaves. Once I started exploring the world of tea leaves, I found I couldn't bear to drink the brew from a bag.

What is it about tea that has captured my attention? It isn't just the nutritive qualities of tea. It's far more than just the health benefits. Of course, every time I sip I know I am doing something good for my body. No amount of goodness, however, can force a ritual unless it is pleasurable, and I find tea (and the idea of tea) pleasurable on many levels.

The first thing to capture my attention was the aroma. There is something about the scent of tea that fills my senses, brings back memories of comfort and warmth and happiness. I can't explain it. I don't recall making those memories. But they are there every time I pour hot water over a fresh bed of leaves. Aside from the arome of the tea, there are so many different fragrances that could have infused the tea. A really good Tie Guan Yin (Iron Goddess) tea has an intoxicating fragrance of orchids that lingers just above the tea smell, and fills your senses with each deep breath. Jasmine tea is a popular scented green tea . The jasmine leaves are introduced to the tea leaves and allowed to absorb the aroma.

Then there is the ritual. The act of making tea is simply representative of taking care of myself. Tea time is a moment of pampering just for me, and my tea time is something I enjoy so very much, that the preparation of it is "pre-amble" for the experience to come.

I FEEL good when I drink tea. Tea has compounds in it that interact with the chemicals in our brain and give us a feeling of peace and wellbeing. It is relaxing and yet brings me to a more alert awareness. I don't need it with the same intensity that I used to feel addicted to coffee (when I drank coffee) but I miss it when I don't have it.

Add to all of the pleasure of the senses a rich and intiguing history that is interesting to read about and you have all of the makings of an obsession.

Americans waste 40% of their food supply, states a new study reported in ScienceNow Daily. A lot of this wastage occurs in restaurants and grocery stores, but a lot of food finds it's way to the trash can at home as well. What better time to talk about wasted food than after the gluttonous orgy Americans call Thanksgiving.

Waste happens at ever step of the food processing chain from farmer to factory to plate. What impact does this have on our world?

Americans waste 40% of their food supply, states a new study reported in ScienceNow Daily. A lot of this wastage occurs in restaurants and grocery stores, but a lot of food finds it's way to the trash can at home as well. What better time to talk about wasted food than after the gluttonous orgy Americans call Thanksgiving.

Waste happens at ever step of the food processing chain from farmer to factory to plate. What impact does this have on our world?

First of all, let me say that food isn't the only thing this society wastes. We have become a throw away society. We waste clothing, electronics, appliances, We also waste time, space and energy. We are a wasteful society. I find all of the waste disgraceful (even as I contribute to it myself), but food waste is particularly difficult for me on a number of levels.

Food waste, to me, is representative of a pervasive attitude of disrespct and disregard in our society today.

We have disconnected ourselves from food production. We don't have to labor for the food we eat in the direct sense.. i.e. most of us aren't growing or harvesting our food. Most of us aren't even preparing our food. We simply buy cans and bags and frozen entrees and heat and serve. We serve too much, eat more than we should and discard the rest without a thought. There is more where that came from and it is easily accessible for most of us.

While it is true that the amount of food we waste could feed the worlds hungry, this isn't the focus of my thoughts. What really has me concerned is the incredible lack of awareness of the implications of this waste.

Without a healthy earth environment, we won't HAVE a food supply. By over producing food we are stressing the resources of our earth… soil, nutrients, energy to produce, package and ship. We are increasing the amount of pollution in the air, the amount of fossil fuels to burn. We are stressing all of our resources to get food into our house, 50% of which ends up in a landfill somewhere.

If you can't care about the earth, and the fact that we need it to be healthy in order to HAVE a food supply for the future, then perhaps you can care about others. Millions of people are starving in the very cities where others are wasting food indiscriminately. While it's true that not throwing out that moldy cranberry bread won't save an African child from hunger, it seems callous and disrespectful to take more than you can use over and over again while others have nothing.

What about the landfills? Garbage dumps are filled and over flowing. We are running out of places to put our garbage. As waste piles up we have a number of other issues to deal with such as rodents and pests, diseases and odors.

There must be a consequence to all of this waste. We are seeing it now, but we will be FEELING it in a few short years. Decades of waste will eventually lead to a point of no return. Why not take it upon yourself to do something about it now.

Our children have been raised in a world of computers, phones, and a multitude of gadgetry.

When my children were toddlers back in the early 90's, the computer era was just starting to gather speed. Our kids were part of the first generation to be fully immersed in technology. Now in their late teens and early twenties they are constantly texting and surfing and gaming. Bill Gates once said, "Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one. " Did he REALLY know how prophetic that statement might turn out to be?

The other day I was walking down the street and I actually saw a teenager TALKING on the phone. No kidding… she had it up to her ear and she was talking. I commented to my husband that I hadn't seen anyone that age use a phone as a phone instead of "texting", My husband remarked wryly that she was probably talking to her mother.

You know, I promised myself that I would never be one of those parents that said, "When I was your age, I didn't have….." but how can you help but compare. The disparity between what we had available to us, and what is available to the middle and upper income family kids is huge.

We grew up in a comfortable middle income family. Both my parents worked, and my older sister and myself helped out with the housework, and the care of our younger brothers. We had 2 cars, a nice little house in a subdivision. We had what we needed, and lots of little extras, and we were happy. We played outside, read books, played board games like monopoly and trouble, and on the weekends we had Looney Toons on Saturday morning and The Cosby Kids, and The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday night.

It seems like we always had the gadgets pretty soon after they hit the market. We were one of the first families to get a microwave (it was about the size of a medium television set), and we played "pong" and thought it was fun (for a while). Of course there weren't that many gadgets available then.

Fast forward twenty years…. we WANT stuff and we want it now. We start off with a house and 2 cars… well why not, we both have jobs. We would like to save some money but there are so many things to want. We startet out buying things for our babies… the baby monitor was cool… I could go to the neighbor's for tea during nap time! Then there were the various books with audio embedded in the pages, talking squeeze toys and mobiles for sleepy-time. Everything had batteries. I think maybe that's how it started.

By the time my kids were in elementary school they had little electronic "pets" that hung on a keychain and fit in the palm of their little hands. They had to push buttons to feed it and play with it, and keep it "happy". While they were doing that my husband was unpacking the new computer running with MS-DOS. I couldn't even figure how to get that thing turned on. It was the biggest calculator I had ever seen. Our "computer games" which we played on the TV then were getting much more interesting. We had Mario and Tetris to keep us occupied and we were replacing all of our music tapes with CD's.

Boy it seems like things moved petty fast from there. By the time the kids were in high school our household owned 4 cellular phones, 3 desktop and 4 laptop computers, 3 different brands of gaming systems, many hand held game devices, several DVD players, MP3 players, wide screen digital surround sound televisions and goodness knows what else.

As I am read back over the commentary I am amazed at the speed with which technology advanced and has taken over our world.

So how have our kids been affected by this massive rapid technological shift?

There are the obvious downfalls… our kids are fatter and more sedentary than ever before. Of course one could say that most of the fault there falls to what our kids are eating, however, what our kids are eating is very closely related to technology. Fatter and less muscle mass = early acute and chronic diseases and death.

I wonder about basic socialization and communication skills. Do our children, now young adults, know how to interact without a screen interface? We've tried to make it a point to communicate with our kids but I know lots of people in our generation with way less time for things like conversation. So the other day, my 20 year old son had some friends over, and I went down to see if they were hungry, and they were all in his room with computers on their laps. What were they doing? Playing poker and chatting. With each other. On the computer.

I also wonder about just basic human needs. Humans are social beings and we need conversation, mingling, touching, interaction. We also crave acceptance and love. I am not sure how those needs can be properly met in the virtual world. Now it may sound like my kids don't have any interaction outside of their computers, and that's not the case. My son goes to university, and my daughter has a full time job in a store in town. It's what they do with the rest of their time.

I used to wonder, if they spend less and less tiem in the company of others, how will they find new friends, develop relationships, find girlfriends and boyfriends, or their prospective spouse. That question has been answered for many with the advent of online dating sites, and not just for my kids. I find many of my middle aged divorced, seperated or never married friends are turning to the internet to find a mate or friend.

What about spare time? My generation raised their kids while constantly complaining about having no money, and no time. No money because we bought them (and ourselves) every gadget that came to the market) and no time because both adults had to work jobs to support our habit of buying everything. Our kids, now teens and twenties have tons of spare time. They still live at home. They have their own cars (bought by daddy) to get them quickly to the corner store at the top of the street. They don't have their time taken up by bothersome chores.. Mom and dad have been so used to "doing it all" that we just continue to do it all. Lots of time to play computer games.

Our kids are slaves to their cell phones. They are constantly texting even while eating dinner, driving or having a (real) conversation with someone. They are also taking pics, and filming short videos, to upload to you-tube or facebook, and logging in to twitter to see who "said" what.

Is there ever a time when they can "get away from it all?" Everyone needs some downtime, to think, meditate, ponder life, do nothing. That's when our creativity kicks in. That's when we imagine, dream, plan, set goals. When do our kids do that, and will their inability to fill empty time with something productive have an impact on society down the road? They can't leave the house now without their "devices" and BOY would you laugh if you could see them when the internet goes down or the power goes out.

All of this gadgetry is isolating our kids from their communities while bring the world closer. All the while the gap between "have" and "have-not" is ever widening. Consider that in 2008, only 23% of the world population accessed the internet!

NERDY is the new cool! I think maybe they are going to rule the world some day after all.

Canadian bankruptcies soared in the first 9 months of 2009, up 43% over the same period the previous year. In tough times a little more money could make a huge difference for some people. A few hundred extra dollars a month could have prevented many of the bankruptcies that occurred.

There are a number of ways to bring some extra money into the household, but I think that starting a network marketing/MLM/direct selling business from a home office is one of the best ways for a number of reasons. Have you been turned off of network marketing in the past? If you hate this kind of business model then this article is written just for you.

There are a lot of misconceptions about network marketing, and they are perpetuated by the constant development of questionable programs and over-zealous new reps who have inadequate training. The network marketing business model was designed to allow companies to get their products to market while allowing ordinary people to earn the money that would normally be spent on advertising.

This is important for people to understand because many people have the impression that network marketing or direct selling companies over-price their product just so they can pay out commissions to the field. While this may be true of some companies, it is not true of all. It's been my experience that there are over-priced products on the store shelves as well. It is up to us, as consumers, to decide which products have value for the price tag.

One of the biggest arguments people have against network marketing companies is the perception that the people at "the top" make all the money. So people who are not familiar with this business model erroneously feel that they need to "get in early" in order to make "all the money." This is true of the ILLEGAL programs. Legitimate companies that utilize this business model have an equal opportunity to earn whether you are the first person to become a representative, or the last. The compensation structure is set up so that you can earn money selling products to people who will use them, and commissions on the development of a sales team. Companies that are legitimate and legal pay their distributors for the work they do in selling, recruiting and duplicating this effort throughout the team. In other words, if you don't do something for the money, you don't get paid.

Another reason for skepticism around the network marketing model is that many people promote it as some kind of "get rich quick" scheme. The reality is that although a few people have begun a business in the industry and earned several thousand dollars in their first weeks, this is not the reality for most. However, if you consider comparing network marketing with the traditional business model, you can reasonably expect to be in profit in your first month or two with network marketing. This isn't the case with traditional businesses, most of which don't deliver profit in the first YEAR or two.

The reason for this is that most network marketing business have a very small start up costs compared to the traditional business model. Whether you start from scratch or buy a franchise, the costs are enormous compared to the network marketer costs. Generally you can get your business up and running for a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars, and it is reasonable to expect a return on that money fairly quickly if you follow your company's steps to success.

It's important to find a company that has a product or products that make sense to you. In other words, you can see a market for the product, and there are happy customers. The "customers" part is another thing that keeps the program legal. If there is no product, or the only people who would be interested in the product at the price it is being sold for are people who want to earn money, then chances are it's not a company that would stand up under the scrutiny of the attorney general in your state. (Competition Bureau if you are in Canada)

Sometimes people who don't understand the direct selling or network marketing model suggest that they shouldn't have to pay something in order to be a salesperson for a company. If you come from a traditional sales position you may be used to a salary, commission, or a combination of the two. Many network marketing companies ask you to make a small product purchase monthly in order to qualify for a check.

Try to think of it this way… if you were working at a regular sales job you would be an employee, subject to certain hours of work, certain expectations while representing the company, and most of all you would likely be subject to some kind of performance expectation. If you were in a sales job but didn't sell anything then you wouldn't have that job very long.

Network marketing companies don't "hire" their reps. Since it is a "word of mouth" business, the company wants to make sure you are at least familiar with their products. Consider it your "quota". The monthly commitment is usually no more than between $100 and $200, which is a small price for products you can use and/or sell, and a great earning potential.

The next task you have ahead of you, once you understand the way network marketing companies work, is understanding what you need to do. One of the reasons network marketing companies have such a bad reputation is that they tell their reps to go recruit everyone they know. Without training or knowledge, over-zealous reps are unleashed on an unsuspecting public. Sometimes they don't know how to take "no" for an answer (politely). Have you met someone like this before? Many of us have. The problem is, most of us can't see ourselves building a business that way, and if that's your only experience with network marketing then it's not surprising that you wouldn't want to give it a try.

What you need to understand is that there are many kinds of people in the world, and network marketing has a sampling of all of them. Once you have an idea of the kind of product that would appeal to you, you then can find someone who matches up with your business ideals, and values, and who is building a business in a way that feels right for you. I tried several companies and interviewed many potential teachers before I found a few that were doing something I could see myself doing.

So what exactly will you have to do? Well first of all, no one gets paid in a legitimate company until someone uses a product. So you need to do one of two things, or a combination of the two. First, you need to sell product. If you don't want to sell product then you need to find others who want to. All of the people that want to build a business will actually use a little product every month themselves. (That's where that $100 to $200 monthly quota comes in) Eventually you have a sales network of people who are selling a little and using a little.

Network marketing has become a little more mainstream, and because of the potential for large incomes, the direct selling industry is appealing to people with a corporate backgrounds and business experience.

If you don't care for the rah rah of hotel meetings, find a company that trains via webinar. If you don't like home party sales, then there are pleanty of businesses that you can build using the internet, or a telephone. There truly is something for everyone in the direct selling market. Don't imagine because you absolutely hated one, that they are all like "that". There's a good chance that if you are looking for a low key, low hype company you may not have heard of them. (Because they do things a little differently than you think network companies do business) It may take a little effort on your part to find these companies.

So how will you find a company that matches your personality, and business style? Hit the internet. There are many forums where people who are direct sellers hang out and chat. Type in search terms like home business forum or direct selling forum or mlm forum… you get the idea. I don't recommend that you sign up to a forum and tell people you are looking for a business. Just read some of the posts and click on the links to websites that people have. This is a great way to "shop" for a potential business partner and evaluate the company. If you let people know you are looking, chances are you will get bombarded with offers, and be overwhelmed.

Once you find a potential partner with a style that suits you, contact them by email or phone and let them know you are interested in knowing more about their business. This person should be able to direct you to a simple system that you could see yourself doing to build your business. Once you've chosen your company, the person you partner with should be able to offer training, and direction on how to get started, as well as ongoing support. They don't need to know all the answers, they should know, however, where to find the answers to your questions. This will be what you should be responsible for once you begin growing your team as well.

Take your time making a decision. Hopefully the company and business partner you choose will be around for a long time. Choose them for the long term. If you can't imagine working with them 5 years from now, find someone else.

One of my pet peeves about network marketing is that sometimes people are so desperate to "sign someone up" that they will make unrealistic promises, misrepresent the income potential by making enticing "big check" claims, or claim that you have to make a decision now or you will miss out on something… someone on your team or some kind of incentive. Don't allow yourself to be pressured, and if you feel pressured and it's uncomfortable, break off the relationship and find another sponsor. You will be building a business with this person, so it is important to find someone you will be proud to introduce to your friends. they are out there looking for you, just as you are looking for them. Hold out for the right person.
